Hello @kayleens89 ,
Thanks for reaching out.
Looking at the error details, it looks like you want to send the notification email to multiple addresses but the addresses are added without using comma “,” i.e – [email protected] this one should be – [email protected],[email protected].
In case it helps, you can find more details on how to add multiple email addresses here.
I hope this helps. Let me know if the issue gets resolved after adding comma (,) between the email addresses.
Thanks 🙂
Good day Shawn,
Thank you for your feedback.
Let me clarify: I created a website for a friend called the holistic co (theholisticco.co.za).
I used the WPForms plugin on the contact page so that she could be contacted. When I send a test message using the form on her website, I get a pop-up notification confirming message has been sent.
However, when I go to the webmail inbox of this domain, there is a message stating “Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender“. I do not want to send a notification email to multiple addresses, only want to send it to the user/ person who sent the message via the contact form – in this case [email protected].
I did notice that the Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected] looked like this – do you know why that is? I also noticed that there was no @ symbol in the second email address, even though the second email is not supposed to be there as that is the administrators email address.
I then deactivated and deleted the WP Mail SMTP plugin because when I checked one of my other websites, I realised I don’t have this additional plugin and the WPForms was working fine. However, now that I deleted the WP Mail SMTP plugin there is no mail coming into the administrators inbox stating that a message was sent via the contact form.
Please advise if you can assist with the above.
Thank you.
Hi @kayleens89,
Ralden here, and I will be stepping in for Shawon.
Regarding this: “However, now that I deleted the WP Mail SMTP plugin there is no mail coming into the administrators inbox stating that a message was sent via the contact form.”
This might mean that the server where this site is hosted does not have a mail() function available.
WPBeginner has a guide on how to test whether your WordPress website is successfully sending emails, and I recommend confirming if the site can send emails.
If you confirm your site is not sending emails, you can reach out to your hosting provider to check this.
Alternatively, you can configure an SMTP plugin on your site so that emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.
Regarding the issue of getting the Mail Delivery Failed Message with that weird email address ([email protected]), this might be related to the SMTP mailer set in WP Mail SMTP.
In order for me to check your form, please share it with me. To do this, go to WPForms > Tools and click on the Export tab. In the Form Export section, select the form you’d like to export, and it will download a JSON file for you. Here’s a screenshot of the setting.
Then, share a temporary link to download the JSON file from Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc.
Thanks!
Hi @kayleens89,
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
Thanks!
