# Mail problems, Windows Server

 * I am having issues with sending mail from WordPress. I was using Contact
 * Form 7 (which always give the red box ‘Failed to send your message.
 * Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.’) along
 * with “Clean and simple contact form” and a few others. I have used the
 * generic PHP mail and SMTP Mail plug in but cannot get a mail sent.
 * I have trawled the net and tried many, many solutions with success and
 * now I need a bit of expert help!
 * What I really need to do, rather than try umpteen tests is to creep
 * forward trying various steps until I find out exactly where the problem
 * lies.
 * Is there a link, or a list, that someone can provide me with? If this is
 * something that is covered by Premium support then I will give it a go.

 * Can you verify with your webhost that some additional steps are not required 
   based on the windows hosting environment? Is this host account a free one?

 * The server is mine, and I have root access so I can do the checks – I just need
   to know which ones.
 * I have smartermail installed as well so I wondered if there was some interference
   but cannot find anything relevant on the interweb.
