MailChimp API settings

    I am unable to connect my WordPress site to my MailChimp account. On generating the API key, pasting it into the General Settings:API Key box then clicking on Save Changes, WordPress throws me out of the General Settings Page and returns me to the Visit Site page.
    I have tried upgrading both WordPress and MailChimp for WordPress to the most recent versions (4.4.1 & 3.0.12 respectively) and also regenerating the API Key.
