# Major issues – plugin causing database connection errors

 * We’ve been having issues with the website all day – confirmed with host that
   a plugin was causing a process to run constantly which created 500 errors intermittently,
   it was suggested that we disable plugins and reenable one-by-one to find the
   culprit. We should have known it was AIO Event Calendar as this plugin constantly
   has issues and errors on our site, updates are a nightmare as nearly every time
   trying the automatic updates breaks the styles for the calendar on the front-
   end.
 * Once disabled we updated to the latest version 2.6.1 hoping that would address
   the issue, it didn’t – when attempting to activate the plugin once installed
   we get the following error:
 * _Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error._
    _Fatal error:
   require(): Failed opening required ‘…/shoredailynews/wp-content/plugins/all-in-
   one-event-calendar/vendor/lessphp/lessc.inc.php’ (include\_path=’.:/opt/cpanel/
   ea-php70/root/usr/share/pear’) in …/shoredailynews/wp-content/plugins/all-in-
   one-event-calendar/lib/bootstrap/loader.php on line 88_
 * Needless to say this is yet another letdown from this plugin and even having
   the paid version the assistance is minimal at best, seriously reconsidering changing
   to a new plugin if this is not resolved.
 * Please help!

 * This is a large problem that many are just now experiencing. I posted the problem
   3 days ago, and I’m not alone. It appears to be an issue with the newest WP 5.3
   upgrade. However, the Time.ly folks are not responding to these forum alerts.
 * I’m having my website rolled-back to last week’s settings. Then I’ll see if I
   have to change out event plguin to something stable. Hopefully, the Time.ly folks
   will get on it.

 * I understand your pain, we’ve opted to go with a different event calendar plugin
   after this latest event, this plugin has been such trouble for well over a year
   and a switch is well overdue. It could be a conflict with our specific theme,
   however any attempts to bring this to the attention of the developers has brought
   little to no attention so we’ve been left on our own to figure it out.

 * have you selected your replacement calendar plugin yet? I’d be interested in
   any recommendations. I’m currently considering “The Events Calendar” plugin.

 * [@laptophobo](https://wordpress.org/support/users/laptophobo/) The Events Calendar
   plugin is the one we ultimately went with, it works perfectly and has many great
   features. We actually bought the paid version to receive automatic updates and
   other feature such as the Community Calendar, so far we’re quite pleased with
   the switch.
 * Hope it works out good for you!

 * Thanks for the feedback. You are awesome. Can I bother you for 1 last question?
 * Did you export data from Time.ly calendar and import into TEC calendar? If so,
   did you use their simple method of using the “ics” file. Or, did you utilize
   the “WP All Import” tool that was receommended by TEC?
 * This website I’m working on (it’s a domestic violence shelter) has a lot of events
   which would be best transfered over instead of re-inputted.
 * Thanks!

 * [@laptophobo](https://wordpress.org/support/users/laptophobo/) We were able to
   export the Time.ly calendar as an .ics file and directly import that into the
   new Tribe The Events Calendar – one thing to note however in order to do that
   you will need to purchase one of their packages that contains the “Event Aggregator”
   plugin in order to perform an import.
 * Hopefully this helps you – feel free to ask any questions, I’m glad to help.

 * Yes, it sure does. Thanks for that.
    I had read in one of the review about this(
   TEC) plugin is that it did not provide for the exportation of files, just import.
   I’m going to assume that the paid version provides for that. Again, thanks for
   your help on this.

 * Hi again. Is your site crashed? I’m wondering because the link (above) shows
   a crashed site. Was this due to the new TEC calendar plugin?

 * [@laptophobo](https://wordpress.org/support/users/laptophobo/) The issue at my
   website redzephyrdesign.com was related to another plugin error that I have since
   resolved, unrelated to the events calendar (which is not even installed on that
   site).
 * The site we do have The Events Calendar plugin installed on is experiencing other
   issues there again, unrelated to the plugin itself, we are in the process of
   moving that site to another host at this point and restoring it. The plugin however
   is running well on our staging site and in the new site we are migrating, so
   far so good. Site will eventually be live here: [https://shoredailynews.com](https://shoredailynews.com)
 * Hope this helps!

 * It does, thanks.
 * I’d love to get in touch with you via email to exchange ideas. I have the new“
   The Events Calendar” plugin, but the way it looks is really raw. I have a ticket
   out to their support, but since we are experiencing similar issues with calendars,
   we might be able to save ourselves some time. You can reach me through the Contact
   Us on my website at: doww.org. Or, you could get back to me here.
 * Best,
    Richard
