  • Hi @tapsuccess ,

    Interesting! Would you let us know what sort of user you’re creating/editing in the screenshot? I’d like to test this flow, but I’ll need to know the steps you’re taking to get to this message.

    Eg:

    • you have an existing WP admin with email address [email protected]
    • you create a new non-admin user with same address ( not sure if this is next step )

    Hello @cena,

    Thanks for your reply. Plain vanilla.

    I made tapsuccess.com (in 2003 and upgraded to WordPress in 2010) with [email protected] as Admin.

    Yesterday I installed Sensei LMS by downloading from ww.wp.xz.cn and uploading the plugin zip, and got this message.

    This is off-the-shelf, hence the screenshot and the query. I do have more plugins than I like, but these days conflicts are rare.

    @cena,

    How can I resolve this?

    Thank you

    Hi @tapsuccess ,

    Such a weird thing. I can’t seem to trigger this message by either a) editing an existing admin with same email or b) creating a new user using the same email (as the existing admin) – I get a WP message then.

    The code generating this message from Sensei is here:

    https://github.com/Automattic/sensei/blob/dcb4daf7172e2577bc5641ac5e0b87668ce81fcd/includes/class-sensei-admin.php#L1984

    time passes…

    AH! I was able to generate the message! Here’s how I can trigger it:

    • changed the admin email in Settings to an address which doesn’t already exist / associated with a user.
    • changed admin email to an existing user who doesn’t have the Admin user role.

    Can you confirm whether either of those might be true?

    Best,

    Cena

    @cena,

    Sincere thanks for your inspired and creative efforts.

    I had installed WordPress with Installatron, which created an email address at the server. However, this was hidden because I had changed the email address in General Settings. I then went to Users and searched to find my address and found my personal email was already in use in Author role. Something I had done for convenience and security. So I rearranged the emails and that solved the error message problem.

    Hi @tapsuccess ,

    Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear you got it sorted. 🙂

    I’ll close this thread now, but please reach out if we can help with anything else.

    Best,

    Cena
