# Mamp and WordPress Installation. localhost error

 * I am having trouble configureing mamp and wordpress. i recently went through 
   the lynda tutorial on this and set it up perfectly on my computer at work and
   am now stuck trying to set it up on my personal computer.
 * mamp installs fine and is pointed to the correct wordpress location but when 
   i try to access the localhost [http://localhost:8888/MAMP/?language=English](http://localhost:8888/MAMP/?language=English)
   it gives me the “oops google chrome could not find localhost:8888. In mamp the
   apache is set to this and im not sure where im going wrong. I followed these 
   exact steps on my work computer running mavericks as well and had no problems.
 * any ideas of whats going wrong would be appreciated. went through a number of
   tutorials and forum posts but haven’t found anything yet.

 * This maybe an obvious question but I assume you started MAMP is running? Did 
   you try just typing localhost:8888 on your browser’s address bar?
