• When I try to update WordPress on my site. I get this message “Unable to locate WordPress Root directory. Installation Failed.” Can someone tell me how to upgrade without getting this message in a non-techie way. I am running a localhost using MAMP PRO if that means anything.

    – Have you considered MANUALLY updating:
Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

Thanks for the help Tara. I was hoping I would not have to do a manual update. I am a novice working with WordPress in that manner. I read on another site that WordPress will eventually resolve this problem getting the message, “Unable to locate WordPress Root directory. Installation Failed.” And make it able to do an auto-install. Have you heard anything about that?

I’m not aware of any open #ticket in this regard
