# Maximum execution time

 * I’ve got this fatal error while scanning
 * Maximum execution time of 10 seconds exceeded in _(parent)_/wp-content/plugins/
   wordfence/lib/wordfenceHash.php on line 181
 * The problem is that the max_execution_time value on my server is set to 10, and
   in the options page of Wordfence that value must be greater than 9, can i set
   it to 9.5 or 9,5?

 * Yes, that’s too short. CHange your PHP.ini file or ask your host to do it – and
   set the max exec time to 30 and then set Wordfence’s setting to 10. Should fix
   the issue.

 * Hi!
 * My server has max_execution_time = 60 and unfortunately it can be changed only
   by the host. The closest number I could get for “Maximum execution time for each
   scan stage” option is 30. This number makes the scan to progress the furthest
   but then it gets stuck. I left it more than 30 min and there is no update.
 * I have tried lots of other numbers below or above 30 but it gets stuck earlier
   in the process. Any ideas?

 * I think that if you’re not reciving an error message as in my case, maybe your
   problem is not related to the maximum execution time.
 * Nevertheless, keep in mind this message from the developers:
