My understanding is that if I import posts with “export content” selected, this plugin imports:

    • all images that are in the content of blog posts and
    • all featured images of the posts

and the links to them will be working. Is the above correct?

    But my main question is:

What if we want to import ALL the images, (not only the one attached to posts)?

Would the procedure be to import the media first (the default way) and then use this plugin to import? would the media not be duplicated?

    Thanks!

    Hi wprun,

This plugin runs on the export command, not the import command. When you use the WP Export function on a subset of your sites content and enable “Export media with selected content” it will create an export file with the selected WP content and all media that is linked to that content.

If you want to move all media and a subset of the content I recommend you first export the media (that’s an option in the export screen) and next export the subset of the other WP content.

My guess is you need to enable “Export media with selected content” for that second subset export but I’m not sure. WordPress usually recognises duplicate media and not re-import that but best to do a test-migration first 🙂
