# Migrate Database

 * I just switched hosting providers from MT to Dreamhost. Dreamhost has a 1 click
   install of WordPress 2.6.2. That’s great but I am currently running 2.0.5 on 
   my MT server. I would like to run the 1 click install for 2.6.2 and migrate my
   2.0.5 db over to Dreamhost. Can anyone please tell me if this is possible and
   the steps necessary to pull it off?

 * I’d suggest doing an upgrade to 2.6.2 on your old host, then move that blog.

   [Moving WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress).
 * You could also consider installing the [WordPress to WordPress import plugin](http://technosailor.com/2006/07/05/wordpress-to-wordpress-import/)
   on your old blog, then use the resulting export file and import into your new
   host (you would need WordPress installed at your new host–that could be a 1 click
   install).
 * Before doing anything though, please backup both your WordPress database and 
   your WordPress files!!!!
