 * So, my host is decommissioning the MySQL server that my WP installation(s) are
   using.
 * I have about 10 WP sites on this database server.
 * Worried about manually cloning the db’s through PHPMyAdmin (eg screwing up) I
   went ahead and paid $197 for [Backup Buddy](http://pluginbuddy.com/purchase/backupbuddy/).
   It does backups, migrations etc.
 * Sadly after buying and installing BackupBuddy (which looks great BTW) I found
   out that my host (Namesco) won’t allow HTTP Loopback connections, which BackupBuddy
   needs to run the simulated cron jobs.
 * So two hundred bucks worse off and after a few weeks messing around with support
   teams for both BackupBuddy and Namesco I am now right back at the start, with
   the deadline for the DB decommissioning looming.
 * Can anyone explain in super simple steps how to copy my existing WP DB and import
   the data into a fresh new DB?
 * I have googled this to death but everyone seems to be dealing with migrating
   to a new host or domain, which I am not.
 * Cheers
 * Jim

 * Hi SNSD News.
 * No I have 10 separate WP sites with their 10 separate databases all hosted on
   that database server eg mysql3.namesco.net – which is being decommissioned.

 * Have you considered whether perhaps you should be migrating to a new host?

 * Eridout.
 * Maybe, but at the moment I have a deadline to migrate these MySQL db’s. I may
   do a full review of my hosting plan/provider however that will just complicate
   things right now.

 * Okay, I have exported the database as a .sql file.
 * How do I import this into my new MySQL db instance?

 * It doesn’t matter, it’s the same process.
 * There’s an Import tab in PHPMyAdmin which allows you to upload the sql file.

 * Okay, I have imported the .sql file into the new database instance.
 * It all looks good.
 * Now is it safe to just change the wp-config.php file with the new server details?
 * I’ve read some comments that editing this requires a re-install of WordPress…

 * Yes.

 * It will prompt you to do so if you haven’t imported the data correctly and are
   now pointing it to a blank database. But that means it sees an empty database
   and isn’t because you edited the config file.
