    Hello all.

I would like my customers to order at least 10 of selected products from my website (greeting cards) before being able to check out. Not all products should have this limitation

    • You can order one print for £80
    • But you have to buy at least 10 cards (of your choice) to check out.

I know WC has this plugin “Minimum Order Amount” but is it fit for my purpose? If not, is there another plugin that would be?

    Thanks for reading.

  • Hi @drain0,

Welcome to the WooCommerce forum, and thanks for explaining what you’re aiming for. I understand you’d like customers to be able to purchase a single print if they choose, but require at least 10 greeting cards (any mix) before being able to check out. That’s a thoughtful way to manage your product types, and I can see why you’d want a rule that applies only to certain items.

The Minimum Order Amount you mentioned (https://woocommerce.com/document/minimum-order-amount/) is designed to restrict checkout based on the total order value or amount, rather than enforcing a minimum number of selected products. Because of that, it may not fit your needs directly.

For your specific case, here are a couple of plugins that would be a better match:

    • WooCommerce Min/Max Quantities: https://woocommerce.com/products/minmax-quantities/ This extension lets you set minimum and maximum purchase rules at the product or category level. You could assign all greeting cards to a “Cards” category and enforce a minimum of 10 items, while leaving prints unrestricted.
    • WooCommerce Mix and Match Products: https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-mix-and-match-products/ This is useful if you want customers to build their own assortment of cards. You can require them to select at least 10 items while allowing flexibility in choosing the designs.

Another possibility is to add custom code to enforce the exact rules you have in mind. However, please note that writing or maintaining custom code is outside our support scope.

If you’d like, let us know a bit more about how your greeting cards are currently set up (categories, tags, or product types), and we can guide you on which plugin will be the simplest to configure for your store.
