# Missing Blogs

 * I have installed WordPress and initialized the Multi-site function, using sub-
   domains.
 * I have created 4 blogs already but have come up with a strange problem. I can
   gain access to two of the blogs okay, but two of them seem to have not been created
   properly; the browser either redirects to a 404 page or the basic landing page
   from my hosting provider (JustHost).
 * The only thing that I can think of is that I used to have a WordPress MS install
   on the domain a while ago that went FUBAR’d; the missing blogs were ones I’d
   had before.
 * Any ideas as to how this issue could be resolved?

 * It sounds like this installation has been told to use a database which was not
   empty, and conflicts are occurring with pre-existing site (blog) names in that
   database.
 * If what you want is a fresh installation, start with an empty database.
 * If you really want to build on that existing site, which doesn’t sound like a
   good idea given its history, follow the upgrade procedure.

 * This is a completely fresh install, with a brand new and empty database. I had
   deleted the old database when removed WordPress first time round.

 * Did you remove the .htaccess too?

 * [@ipstenu](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ipstenu/) Yes, I deleted everything;
   as far as I were aware!

 * Double check that .htaccess. It’s a hidden file and easy to miss.

 * Subdomains?

 * [@ipstenu](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ipstenu/) The only .htaccess file
   that I could see was the one created by this new installation.

 * Okay, good 🙂 So are these subdomains and, if so, do you have wildcard subdomains
   setup on your server?

 * If you’re getting the JustHost page it sounds like you’ve pointed the subdomains
   at your server but not correctly mapped them and/or created a wildcard subdomain.
 * In cpanel you should create a new subdomain called * and point the root directory
   to your wordpress install.

 * That is quite different. A 404 error means your server receives the request and
   does not find a route to response. A landing page from your hosting provider
   means there is no DNS configuration for such domain, so the request does not
   get your server.
