# Missing Error Message

   when a user registers with the same email address, they get a red empty box, 
   instead of the “existing user” message. This was working fine until recently.
   Did something change? I’m afraid to update WordPress, since I’ve made so many
   manual changes to the code. Any idea how to fix?

 * Nothing has been changed. Did you add another plugin recently or change anything
   else? I tested this myself and am not able to recreate this issue.

 * After emailing [@bottway](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bottway/) separately,
   this issue was caused by a few plugins but not the New User Approve plugin.
