 * I have used WordPress a lot I am helping a friend with a site, I upgraded Shell
   Lite to the latest version, added some SEO plugins, and when I looked at the
   home page a graphic was gone the site is [http://www.thepetgurl.com/](http://www.thepetgurl.com/).
   When I go to the home page under pages, I do not see anything in the visual section
   under test I see this line of code: <h1><span style=”font-size: x-small;”><span
   class=”Apple-style-span” style=”font-weight: normal;”>
    </span></span></h1>
 * After working with WordPress for many years I have never seen something like
   this and yes I can write code, but I am really puzzled where this graphic has
   gone and where it is being pulled from, it is not in the media section, so got
   any ideas, what is getting me is the blank Visual area in the editing section.
   I need to be up front and tell you I am new to the Shell Lite theme, so if there
   is a manual on it could you provide the URL for it.
 * Thank You so much

 * Looks like you directly edited/added in theme file/directory.
    Well every modification
   you made are now goner.
 * That’s why it is recommended to everyone [Child Themes](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes)
   for keeping secure your modification from theme updates.

 * If the developer used a child theme how would you restore it, if there is one?

 * If you use child theme, you need to activate it from WordPress Dashboard.
 * After that you make your modifications in child theme directory, and it will
   inherit the parent theme files.
 * So, when theme update is available and you updated it only content of parent
   theme gets replace with new version and your modification will be safe in your
   child theme directory.
