# missing 'make private' setting

 * HI there,
 * I used to have the option make site private – now I don’t seem to?
 * I have deactivated all plugins and still no option.
 * I did tick Discourage search engines – then saw a post that said to untick that
   but the private option hasn’t re-appeared.
 * Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

 * Hello wespeakgeek,
 * WordPress by default doesn’t have a “make site private” option, you can create
   private posts and pages but would need to do so every time. You can also do the
   search engine discouragement and not allow user registrations, but content can
   still be visible.
 * There are [plugins to create private sites](https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=private+site),
   and I think you can find what you need there for a viable solution.
