# V8.0.0 update – Missing Payment Method

 * I just updated to 8.0 on my staging site. In testing, I see in the checkout one
   of my enabled payment methods is not showing. In the WooCommerce payment settings
   I have:
    - My credit card provider
    - PayPal Standard
    - Direct bank transfer
    - Cheque payments
 * But in the checkout the first one is not shown. It is definitely enabled. I will
   raise with the plugin provider too.

 * Sorry to hear the problem you’re facing about not showing the credit card payment
   method on the checkout page. In order to know more about this issue, could you
   please share with us the System Status Report of your site?
 * You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy
   for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.
 * Also, could you please let us know if you’re using the Blocks or standard (shortcode)
   checkout?

 * Thanks for the response. Status below.
 * To definitively answer your question about checkouts, I checked by trying to 
   edit the pages. On live (WP6.3 but WooCommerce 7.9.0) I use shortcodes for the
   checkout (and basket page). On staging (the one I have updated to 8.0.0), both
   use blocks. I don’t think I did anything differently for their creation. As any
   customization of these (my own plugin for custom fields / css) pre-dates any 
   use of block on the sites, I might recreate these two pages on stage with shortcodes.
   I note when I tested 8.0.0 this morning both pages appear with a new layout (
   now I can see they are block-based) that will need me to add quite a lot of css(
   button colours, widths etc) and rewrite my own custom checkout fields plugin.
   Reverting to shortcodes would be the quick fix??

 * Just looked at the checkout in the block editor again and spotted “_The following
   extension is incompatible with the block-based checkout_” it then names the credit
   card gateway plugin. Reverting to shortcodes does seem a quick fix. Long term,
   moving to blocks looks good.

 * I reverted to WooCommerce v7.9.0 and all is well with my checkout / cart pages.
   These pages are using shortcodes. As soon as I install 8.0.0 or 8.0.1 these pages
   use blocks even if I do not edit the pages. How can I use 8.0.1 but with shortcut-
   based basket and cart pages please?

   need to revert your checkout (and cart?) from blocks to the shortcode based versions.
   It includes instructions. I will be trying again (following these instructions
   this time). I still think this option should have not been forced on us – breaking
   the ability to take payments by some gateways. Also poor communication WooCommerce.

   Please open
   your own thread and make sure to include the following:
    - Your site’s System Status. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select“
      Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.  Once you’ve done that, paste
      it here in your response.
    - Some screenshots that describe the issue. 
    - It’s also worth checking if there are any fatal error logs from WooCommerce
      > Status > Logs and choosing from the drop-down menu the fatal-errors.log 
      option.

 * I was not using blocks for my checkout so can’t definitively answer your question.
   I am certain the payment gateway does not support blocks so, the answer is probably
   not.
 * I’ll forward the payment gateway people the resources you listed – thanks.
 * I use my own plugin to add custom fields and behaviours to the cart and checkout.
   These have a lot of decisions e.g. if the cart contains an event booking show
   these fields and add them to the customer and admin emails. As someone who runs
   my own business and does everything going. I managed to take code from the web
   and adapt it to my exact purposes. From what I see, I think I am going to struggle
   with blocks, so while they look better and give a better experience, any custom
   development needs to be fairly straightforward or I’ll have to stick with the
   conventional cart / checkout.

 * Blocks are definitely the future, hopefully, your payment gateway can support
   it soon. :‎)
