 * I have no more admin dashboard, only a page with the following error text at
   the top:
    `Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '/' in /home1/oldcarguy/public_html/
   wp-content/themes/automotive-child/functions.php on line 5`
 * If I can just get back to the dashboard and then to Themes/Edit, I can reverse
   what I did but the site is now completely unresponsive(actually it appears to
   be completely gone).
 * The site is: motoringinvestments.com
 * I hope someone can help,
    Brian

 * Host Login > cPanel > File Manager to /wp-content/themes/automotive-child/ and
   then either repair or delete-and-replace the functions.php file you find there.
 * If that does not work, temporarily rename /automotive-child/ to /automotive-child-
   out/ to deactivate it and WordPress should fall back to Twenty Fifteen.

 * I cannot get to a login page.
    I tried: motoringinvestments.com/wp-admin and
   motoringinvestments.com/wp-login
 * All I get is a page which reads:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘/’ in/
   home1/oldcarguy/public_html/wp-content/themes/automotive-child/functions.php
   on line 5
 * If I can only login I imagine I can fix this.

 * The login you need to use is at your hosting account, the server login, not your
   WordPress site. You need to go behind the wall behind the curtain.

 * I see. Thank you, I’m going to try now.

 * OK, I found my functions.php file at my hosting site which is what needs to be
   changed back to what it was before. However I cannot open it on my computer.
   Do you know how/or what program I need to use to open a .php file?

 * You should be able to open/edit it right there in File Manager at the server.
   For local, I use NotePad++. You can actually use any *plain-text* editor that
   does not add any formatting, but a code editor such as NotePad++ or whatever
   can help make certain errors obvious.

 * It worked!
    Thank you so much,
