No response? What is the matter please?
Hello @sir-peter,
The issue here is that the Lightbox is not taking the link into account, only the image itself!
In fact, the Lightbox works on images without any link.
I’m not sure how other plugins handle that, but there must be some out there that actually rely on the links rather than on the images, so you should be able to find another plugin 🙂
Best regards,
Thomas
In addition, I would like to say that lightboxes generally use the “a href” by simplicity. Without the URL, they have no clue how to find an actual bigger image.
In the case of Meow Lightbox, since it’s using WordPress and the image metadata, it retrieves it and thanks to that, you don’t need to use a “a href” at all. This is much better I believe: having a URL around all your images is probably not what you want, a “a href” being a link to another page: https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_href.asp.
Tx Jordy,
you know, when you want to
1) display a slick photo (800×150) and still want users to be able to see the large photo
2) generally want to show a different photo via click,
I cannot use MEOW Lightbox.
But: It is a very good plugin for photography, showing the meta-data and is highly aprreciated (bought it). Maybe you can think of another “selector” that will open the mentioned URL? Would be of great help to me.
Best, Peter
