 * I’m about to move a WP installation from a sub-directory off the document root
   to the server’s document root, using the instructions at:
 * [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)
 * Before I go ahead, though, I have just one question. The instructions say:
 * > If you are using Permalinks, go to the Administration > Settings > Permalinks
   > panel and update your Permalink structure to your .htaccess file, which should
   > be in the same directory as the main index.php file.
 * Does this simply mean to go the the permalink settings page and re-save the settings?
   Because there’s nothing on that page about the .htaccess file, although I imagine
   that saving will create a rule there.
 * Sorry if this is a rather simple question. Put it down to nerves.
 * Cheers

 * Hi,
 * When you use the permalinks settings page in your WP Admin dashboard it writes
   the rules to your htaccess file for you. You need to go to the settings page
   and update the permalinks so it re-writes the htaccess rules for handling permalinks.
 * I hope this helps!

 * So leave the settings exactly as they are and just click on ‘Save Changes’, then…
 * I should take something for my nervousness!
 * 🙂
 * Thanks Tim.

 * Yes,
 * Just save the permalinks settings so it updates the permalinks to work from your
   main domain and not a subfolder.
 * I hope this helps1
