i just did a backup on 4.0 beta 2 and everything seems to have worked fine. i didnt test a restore. i saw another backup plugin that had a restore tester. didnt try it out or know how it works, but it seems like a good idea to test a restore w/o actually have to do a restore. how is 4.0 compatibility?

have you made any advancements into WP MU and the backups?

    Thank you for your post!

Akeeba Backup should work just fine with WordPress 4.0. There are no backwards incompatible changes scheduled for this release. As Andrew Nacin put it a few weeks ago on Twitter “WordPress 4.0 is just a number between 3.9 and 4.1”.

Regarding the restoration tester, it can only realistically check that all of the files have been extracted, not whether your site works. Well, Kickstart will let you know if it cannot extract any file, so you can say that this functionality is already built in, just not called a restoration tester.

Regarding the cli directory, that’s only available in the paid Akeeba Backup Professional version. You can always use the web interface (“front-end backup” as we call it) method of scheduling backups with your host’s CRON offering. You can find out more about it in https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-solo/automating-your-backup.html#frontend-backup You can also use this feature with WebCron.org or other similar third party services.
