I am brand new to word press although I hired someone to set up wordpress in my .com site. I bought Thesis and installed successfully and then realized that WP had a new release. So I tried to update using Filezilla except the upgrade didn’t seem to take. I was painfully careful about deleting the correct files… or so I thought. Can get into admin panel, my blog doesn’t load and now my website is all blank pages. I have been dangerously tinkering. Where do I even start fixing this? yes I do have a backup.

This is the error message I am getting…

Warning: main(/homepages/31/d286003820/htdocs/PillowThrowDecor.com/blog/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/31/d286003820/htdocs/PillowThrowDecor.com/blog/wp-settings.php on line 246

    Help pretty please
    Christine

  • Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Nope that didn’t work. Exactly the same error message is showing.

Either a file is not where it is supposed to be or I deleted too much and need to restore tables and stuff? My backup is in a lower version and a different theme than the latest version I have on it now. Is there an issue with restoring older files to a newer version? Or am I going in the wrong direction again? My site has all the tabs back but still no pics.
    Thanks

What version were you running before the upgrade? Did you run wp-admin/upgrade.php?

Was running the immediate previous version of WordPress. Contacted my host 1and1 and they were able to walk me through a restoration although I have lost some data. Time for spring cleaning in my blog and I want to rethink my layout for the new Thesis theme that I purchased. Thanks so much.
