@mdlaat,
Which language you are using trying to switch to? Are you using available translations inside plugin for that?

I am using Dutch and English.
I am sorry, what do you mean with ‘available translations inside plugin’?
I am using polylang to create a multilanguage blog. Polylang takes care of loading the translations of wordpress and the plugins.

Email Subscribers has translations available for few languages at /wp-content/plugins/email-subscribers/languages/. You can check which languages are there from here : change/update/translate any texts from Email Subscribers

So, you have translated English strings to Dutch language manually or you are using Dutch language translations from Email Subscribers plugin?

Currently in that directory:
email-subscribers-de_DE.mo email-subscribers.pot
email-subscribers-de_DE.po email-subscribers-ru_RU.mo
email-subscribers-es_ES.mo email-subscribers-ru_RU.po
email-subscribers-es_ES.po email-subscribers-sr_RS.mo
email-subscribers.mo email-subscribers-sr_RS.po
email-subscribers-nl_NL_2.mo email-subscribers-ta.mo
email-subscribers-nl_NL_2.po email-subscribers-ta.po
email-subscribers-nl_NL.mo email-subscribers-tr_TR.mo
email-subscribers-nl_NL.po email-subscribers-tr_TR.po
email-subscribers-pl.mo email-subscribers-uk.mo
email-subscribers-pl.po email-subscribers-uk.po
email-subscribers.po index.html
I have not translated anything manually. Should I?
Thank you
@mdlaat,
Okay, looks like polylang is picking up translation files that is available inside plugin. And Dutch language translations are not updated currently. That could be the reason you are not able to see translation of few strings inside plugin.
If you want, you can contribute to translation. Refer here how you can.

Thank you.
I have taken a look with loco translate and I think the problem I have is due to the fact that some strings are defined in the administration interface of wordpress and not in the language files of the plugin.
P.e. the text to display after email subscribed successfully is defined in the wordpress admin interface and not in the language file. This prevents polylang from changing the language of this text.
@mdlaat,
So use Loco Translate and it will work correctly.

The text in the popup after subscribing can not be translated with loco translate, because it is not in the language file.
It can only be set in the admin interface.
@mdlaat,
Dutch language po file won’t be updated with latest version. Create a new po file for Dutch language via loco translate and then have a check.

So I changed the dutch translation with local translate.
When I update the plugin email subscribers, my modifications to the dutch language file are gone. Thank god for backups π
If you would like my updated dutch translation to include in the distribution, please let me know.
