Multiple Funds Donation

    I’m working with a community foundation, which manages multiple funds. We have the need for a single donation page that allows donors to designate donations to multiple, selected funds. The list will be about 250 funds, so some navigation/categorization (or at least pagination by alphabet) would be ideal.

    Basically, we’re talking about a donation shopping cart, in which different amounts can be designated to specific funds.

    Is anything like this on the horizon? We need to be up-and-running by June. What sort of “donation” might make this happen, if it’s deemed worthy of inclusion in the Seamless Donation module?

    I’m hoping to have version 4.0 of Seamless Donations available by June, which will allow for extensibility without upgrade breakage. I can’t guarantee that, of course, because this is all a mere matter of programming.

    Once there are plenty of hooks and filters in the code, it should be relatively straightforward to add new features.

    The feature you’re talking about is pretty neat and I’ll definitely add it to the new features list, but I’d be remiss if I implied you’d see anything like that by the end of June.

    As for a donation to make it happen sooner, while I’m sure my wife would love it if I accepted donations for work I’m doing while avoiding weekend “honey dos”, the reality is the plugin isn’t currently architected to handle extensions (that’s what I’m doing now), so there’s probably nothing that would make it go faster, especially since I’m already stocked up on coffee.

    Definitely follow http://zatzlabs.com/lab-notes/ and subscribe to the mailing list (I don’t email each lab note, just big announcements), but if you want the blow-by-blow of how the project is going, I record all my coding notes as I do them.
