 * Since this might be usefull for others too I started a [tutorial with pics](http://wp-osm-plugin.hanblog.net/create-a-file-with-multiple-markers/)
   to answere your question.
    In short: Do not manage data (text, images and also
   markers) with WordPress but use it’s power to visualize data. For markers the
   [KML](http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyhole_Markup_Language) is a great standard
   and [viking](http://sourceforge.net/projects/viking/) is a great tool. BR, photoweblog
