    Hi,

I am building a podcast hosting website. The idea is to offer each client a “spot” or mini radio station which they can use to communicate information. I figured the best way would be to create series for each client and load episodes as per the spec.

I created a page in wordpress called spots. I then added a series called MiCast under the parent series spots and uploaded an episode. Trouble is, the episode and the series do not show up on my website. I was thinking of using the web page, Spots as kind of like a pushing off point into these multiple client pages? Or do i simply create a page per client, and password protect it so its not visible to the whole interwebz? if so, how do i do this?

Please advise on how i might go about doing this, what I can promise (for instance if they require a secure webpage to protect their information) and what I can deliver?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This is pretty advanced stuff that’ll likely require more than what PowerPress can offer. Regardless, I’ve asked the lead developer of PowerPress to take a look at your question. A response will be posted here as soon as he has a chance to look at your question.

    Hello ,

First, part of what you are talking about I do not understand. Are you saying you are going into PowerPress and creating a “series” called MiCast?

Can you give us a better description what you are trying to accomplish?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hello @spudcaster,

I do not understand, do you want to use our plugin or do you wish to use another podcasting plugin? Are you not getting support from the seriously simple plugin and that’s why you are asking us for help? Which plugin do you currently have installed on your site, is it PowerPress?

    Referring to your comments…

I do not have enough information to give you any “this is the answer to your question” because it is unclear exactly what you are trying to accomplish. I will do my best to answer questions but please use the following as information, it is definitely not the answer to your question at this point.

With PowerPress podcasts are either organized in your blog posts or you can create your own post type. You used the word “page” which is a keyword in WordPress. I assume you meant “post” but just in case, “Pages” are not syndicated and are not organized by date linearly like blog posts are. If you are not familiar, podcasting is an extension to blogging, it is a natural fit to add audio or video to a blog post to elevate it to a podcast episode. Pages on the other hand are organized by hierarchy, pages have children/parents. There is no easy way to organize them into RSS feeds as a podcast which is why pages are not syndicated as podcasts.

As far as adding “series”, there is no term in PowerPress called “series”.

Is the “series” you speak of a custom post type you created or maybe your theme created? You can create a podcast from a custom post type and that post type be called a series. You can call a post type anything you want. Technically, “Posts” in WordPress is a post type as well as “Pages”. More information about post type podcasting is available here: https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/post-type-podcasting/.

As far as password protecting pages, you can do that built into WordPress. If you are trying to syndicate a podcast to a podcasting app that is for members only, then you are referring to premium podcasting, we have documentation on this here: https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/premium-podcasting-content/

Stepping back from the details, if you can explain what you are trying to accomplish that would be great. A clear goal that you have can help us give you a much more specific answer.

    Thanks,
    Angelo
