 * Hello,
 * Thank you for this plugin. I have been using it on single install for years.
 * I installed it on a WP multisite (8 sites), activated it as network only, configured
   my job, but it doesn’t work as excepted.
    My job backups, database only (all
   tables), daily, to Dropbox.
 * But everyday I have a 8 backup files instead of having only one backup for the
   whole multisite. Each of the 8 files have the same size, like if the job is executed
   for each site.
 * Is it normal, or how can I avoid this?
 * Thank you for your help.
    Kind regards

    weird, Could
   you please go to your job setting -> Schedule tab and show to me your job schedule
   setting? (take a screenshot or something ….)

 * Hi, same issue here.
 * Since I updated to v3.4.3 I’m getting a site backup per subsite on my Multisite.
   That’s 5 in my case. Plus loads of errors in the log such as:
 *     ```
       WARNING: fopen(/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-******-backups/daily/******-10-17_02-******.tar.gz): failed to open stream: No such file or directory
       ERROR: Can not open source file for transfer.
       ```
 *     ```
       WARNING: filesize(): stat failed for /wp-content/uploads/backwpup-******-backups/daily/*****_2017-10-17_******.tar.gz
       ERROR: The Backup archive will be too large for file operations with this PHP Version. You might want to consider splitting the backup job in multiple jobs with less files each.
       ```

 * It is setup as Network Only and has always worked fine up until today.

 * Hello, this has also been happening to my Multisite installation. A backup process
   is being created for each individual site as of the latest version. It was not
   working that way previously.

 * I have been running this plugin for a couple years now and as of 3.4.3 this is
   happening to me to. Also, when the backup fails the temp directories in each
   of the multisite site folders are not removed so the size of the backup zip files
   grows larger with each backup attempt. My multisite has 443 sites so this has
   become a real problem.

 * This is the same for me.
 * Also this has caused major performance issues on the server along with generating
   multiple CRON instances.

      Reason: cron instances instead on jobs

 * My schedule options are: [https://imgur.com/a/hBVHu](https://imgur.com/a/hBVHu)

   You can see it is set on “daily” mode.
 * Looking at all the other feedback here, seems to be related to the plugin, and
   not the server.

 * This is happening to me also, on a multisite installation. BackWPup (running
   3.4.3 now) is scheduled to do one backup each night, but it’s doing 10 per day,
   7 of them within a half hour time period, the others scattered throughout the
   day. The backup files are all the same size.
 * I think this just started happening within the last week, and before that it
   was just doing one backup as expected. I have 23 sites under this multisite installation.
   If you want any more information let me know.

 * Hello BackWPup, I would also like to add that we have been noticing the same
   behavior. Is there a multisite fix on the way? Multiple backup files being created,
   and not being deleted. Can you offer a response or acknowledgement? Thanks, we’ve
   been using for years as well.

 * Same here (multisite, 8 sites): multiple backup copies are created in a row…

 * not sure it is helpful, but I’ll pipe in too.
 * Multisite – 200 sites
    I think it was about 4 weeks ago when things began getting
   a little hinky. (I’ve since deleted all emails and logs so not exactly sure when
   it started)
 * for months is was working great sending database to dropbox
 * then it started trying to backup the database for each individual subsite – and
   failing, which triggered an email of course
 * then I discovered that the site had somehow quickly accumulated a ton of data
   somewhere. and haphazardly I’ve been finding database backups in the upload/sites/
   subsite folders.. not everyone but some… (big files 100mb) — I’m not sure but
   I think I’ve got hidden files somewhere too (writing this reminded me to look)–
   my site doubled in size to 10GB so I’m motivated to find where these files are
   but so far have not) – SSH shell says there is a lot of data in some subsite
   upload folders but nothing visible
 * this could have been caused by multisite network issues and plugin activations–
   but no real clue what caused issues.
 * sorry for long note – but just wanted to share my experience

 * [@here](https://wordpress.org/support/users/here/),
    Are you activate BackWPUp
   on your subsite too? ( Normally, BackWPUp only need to be activated on the main
   master site ). Please check and comment bellow.

 * BackWPUp is Network Activated rather than activated on each individual site.
   The settings page is only accessible in the Network Admin panel. Is this wrong?

    yes I
   know, but just in case

 * In my case, none of the subsites has the BackWPUp plug-in activated individually,
   or at least, the BackWPUP settings menu is not available from the subsites panel.
   As garrettgardner said, everything is configured from the network admin panel.
   Hope that helps.

 * [@here](https://wordpress.org/support/users/here/),
    Could you please enable
   alternative CRON to see what happens?I think we are a problem with the WordPress
   Cron. After that, we will see what happens!
 * To enable alternate cron:
    modify **wp-config.php** ( you can find this file
   in your root directory ), and before the line: **/\* That’s all, stop editing!
   Happy blogging. \*/** add this line:
 * **define(“ALTERNATE_WP_CRON” , true );**
