 * I’m using Mandrill on the main site of our multisite, but am wondering what would
happen if users were able to activate it. Could they use their own API and have
   an independently running version?

 * I use Mandrill across a multisite installation – API keys have to be set on each
individual site. It seems to work with no issues as far as I can tell; all emails
are sending and delivering just fine.

 * Should you network activate or activate per site?

 * I network activated, then used another plugin called wpMandrill Multisite to
copy the settings across the whole network. If subsites need their own settings,
you don’t need the additional plugin – just network activate, then each subsite
   needs to be configured individually.

 * Thanks Andrea I will try wpMandrill Multisite to copy the settings across the
whole network. Sounds like a much quicker solution for my application.
