 * Hi,
 * I’m trying to set up multisite (which works) with an offline development mode
   as described here:
    [http://codex.wordpress.org/Running_a_Development_Copy_of_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Running_a_Development_Copy_of_WordPress)
 * Does anyone have any pointers to do this successfully? I’ve searched around on
   the forums but not found anything. I’m neck deep in the code at the minute trying
   to figure out what’s what so if someone’s been here before me, help would be
   much appreciated. :-).

 * The only catch is the domain name is stored in a multitude of places when you’re
   running multisite.

 * Yes, I noticed the domain is scattered liberally around. Sigh. Well I’ll keep
   at it unless I come up with a better idea. Thanks.

 * What I do is just change my computer’s hosts file, so the domain request shows
   me my local install instead.
 * Yeah, I have to change it back to see the live site, but it’s just a few seconds.

 * I don’t think this can be done without major hackery. For the record and in case
   it helps someone else, some useful references follow.
 * Migrating a WordPress DB from one location to another (not quite available):
