 * i recently started using multisite, and i’m using subdomains. everything is working
fine, but I wanted to put google seo verification code in root of one of my subdomain.
 * however when i ftp to account i only see main domain, no subdomains?
 * are they all done virtually? meaning I have no root for each subdomain?

 * From everything I have read what you are saying is correct. Subdomains are virtual
and only exist in your database; there are no root folders. The only upload folder
for the subdomains exist in blog.dir which you created in the wp-content folder
for media (images, music, documents, i.e.) linked to pages and blogposts.
 * One way you may be able to do what you are trying to do is to edit the code of
your theme you are using for your blog via the Theme code editor native to WP.
Just remember that since the theme is ‘network’ activated if you use it for any
other blog those changes will propagate to any blogs on which that theme is used.
 * How did you get your subdomains to work? I am having a heck of a time seeing
them – no access to dashboard or main page, BUT they do show up in my ‘Sites’
   page under network dashboard. :S

 * i played heck getting it to work also.[what I did](http://www.programming-tricks.com/2012/03/15/wordpress-mulitsite-installation/)
   to get it to work.
 * I think it was the serveralias that was giving me trouble. but I have dashboards
for all subs. for some reason if I create a new sub, it won’t show up right away
then i logout or something and it works when i come back.
 * ever since i went to a dedicated server, i’ve had a mess of a time getting wordpress
   to work.
