 * I am a teacher who wishes to train several students to use WordPress. I want
   for each student to learn how to install and activate plugins, create and modify
   blogs and pages, add media and links, so they could create their own websites.

   I am wondering whether I should use the Multisite feature (assigning each site
   to a student) or if it would be more efficient to create new installations in
   different directories in my WordPress site.
 * Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
 * Yvan

 * I would recommend that you create separate installations as it is closer to real
   world for your students.

 * I disagree. Multisite would work just fine in this scenario,

 * Esmy, but I think the Multisite configurations are a bit complicated, since they
   are students,just stats to learn WP, I think it would be better to start from
   the basic installation.

 * The students wouldn’t need to handle any of the multisite configuration. They’d
   be creating sub-sites. But it would mean that the OP could be Super Admin with
   a single login.

 * Correct me if I’m wrong, but I am under the impression that Multisite implies
   that all the sub-users must use the same plugins and themes as the super admin.
   If that is the case, wouldn’t it be restrictive for students who wish to explore
   WP?

 * Incorrect.
 * They CAN use the same themes and plugins, they don’t HAVE to.
 * They also cannot install their own themes and plugins, but the Super Admin can
   install any they need (or want). Rookies rarely need a lot. Heck, I run sites
   that just have Akismet.
