I think it’s time for your web host to help you out a bit. * The normal multisite setup is to deactivate all plugins, add the code to cause the multisite ‘install’ to be available, run the install, add the htaccess directives and anything WordPress wants added to the config file. then turn the plugins back on via the dashboard… * There is something in your setup on your host which we can’t see so your host should be able to help you. * Sometimes, you need to ask the host several different times over several hours to find that one support rep who can help you. It’s not that the other reps are the problem either. I’m with Dreamhost and they said specifically they won’t help with any multisite questions. I’ve got 2 other sites I set up with multisite hosted by them that work fine. But on this most recent site I can’t seem to install multisite because there is still 1 plugin active on this new site that i am not able to deactivate.
