# My Plugin Changes Encoding. Why?

 * Hello all,
 * Would love a little help here. Simply turning on my plugin is changing the sites
   encoding such that a dash “-” becomes “—”. This happen in both my tinyMCE editor(
   including both Visual and HTML views) and in the posts when seen from the site.
 * However, immediately upon Deactivating my plugin, it is fixed everywhere.
 * I have no idea as to why. I reside in the US and develop using standard tools
   such as NetBeans.
 * in the Plugin Header I have
    /* … Text Domain: my_plugin_name */
 * In troubleshooting, I have tried commenting out all of the add_actions() and 
   just about every section and function of the two files, and still the issue exists.
 * I have no idea where to look and I know relatively little about encoding in general
   and I am quite new to developing plugins.
 * Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

 * UPDATE: RESOLVED
 * OK, I found that it was caused by having a full HTML header with a javascript
   in the doc.
 * I was trying to take a quick and dirty approach with the JS in that this is a
   simple plugin. But, I guess I’ll have to move the JS to an external file.
