 * Hi everyone,
 * I notice that when I want to publish a post, or when I want to assign categories
   to my posts, it seems to take forever. A fellow blogger friend tells me it’s
   because the database, over time becomes fragmented, and that it happens with
   several blogging programs. I tried going into my cpanel, clicking my php admin,
   then clicking to optimize the database, but still nothing has changed. Would
   anyone here know what else I can try?
 * Thanks.
    Lisa

 * How many update services are you pinging in Options/Writing?

 * Actually, I had it set up to ping quite a few of them. I deleted all of them
   except for Pingomatic, and now the problem is fixed.
 * Thanks Nacmanx!

 * Yes, beware of pinging multiple update services. [As you can see](http://pingomatic.com/),
   Pingomatic pings quite a few update services on its own. Pinging multiple update
   services can have a significant impact on your posting time. And pinging an update
   service more than once consecutively, could result in your IP and blog being
   banned from the update service.
