 * Migrating from one host to another almost never works because of MySQL collation
   issues. The only time it works is when I correct the collation beforehand to
   the one that the target host will accept. But what if I already have a backup
   that I need to use? Such a solution is useless in that case.
 * My question, therefore, is: Is there a way to unpack the .daf file, correct the
   collation, and then repackage it?
 * I tried downloading the SQL file after Duplicator had already unpacked it, made
   the necessary changes, and then uploaded it again to the exact location. The
   problem is that when I go through all the steps, the .daf file is unpacked again,
   which overwrites my changes.
 * Or is there any other solution? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

 * Hi [@mdelabb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mdelabb/),
 * It’s possible to unpack the .daf file as instructed in this post: [https://duplicator.com/knowledge-base/how-to-work-with-daf-files-and-the-duparchive-extraction-tool/](https://duplicator.com/knowledge-base/how-to-work-with-daf-files-and-the-duparchive-extraction-tool/)

   However, it’s not possible to recreate the .daf archive again.

 * Thanks @mohammedeis, I ended up finding a solution that you wrote a while back
   and it turned out to be very simple. There is actually no need to unpack and
   pack when following your suggestion. I simply went into advanced mode and then
   set the desired collation in step 2.
 * I had a different problem afterwards, whereby the hoster did not allow Duplicator
   to change the wp-config.php. I gave up on this one and switched hoster where
   it then worked seamlessly.
 * Thanks for your help.
