Native Markdown?

    Hey I noticed that native Markdown support was added to WordPress.com and the WordPress iOS app but it doesn’t appear to be available on ww.wp.xz.cn.

    Is there something I’m missing, will this we added in a future release?

    If I use a plugin instead, I assume the WordPress iOS app won’t work with that, correct?

    No – you would need to use a plugin for this. In theory the iOS app should still work but you’d need to ask on the app’s forum to be sure.

    Do we know if this is something that is planned to be added?

    Maybe I’m behind the curve but this is the first thing I’ve seen that ww.wp.xz.cn doesn’t have that .com does that isn’t related to being centrally hosted.

    I try to run with as few plugins as possible and I was looking forward to trying this.

    As far as I am aware, there are no plans to add Markdown to core – probably because the need for it is so small.

    It is a niche feature sure, but I would think a feature like this would be used MORE by people on ww.wp.xz.cn than on WordPress.com.

    Actually, about 90% of people hosting their own WP sites are essentially non-technical and wouldn’t know Markdown if they fell over it. 🙂
