 * Not sure why this project was delegated to developers that clearly are not up
   to the task. Please rescue it with some developers that know how to create a
   UI.
 * Just so you know, I’ve been using the block editor since day one and before,
   so I’m speaking from experience. I wanted this to work so bad, but now it’s sort
   of become an embarrassment. Nevertheless, I continue to use it as much as I can
   despite it being so clunky. I still have hope.
 * Here’s a thought, get the folks from Beaver Builder involved. They know what
   they’re doing. Whatever they want, just pay them before WordPress is permanently
   damaged.

 * Hi, Sorry to see that the Gutenberg editor does not meet your expectations.

 * As you may or may not know, WordPress is open source software with contributions
   from the entire community. In that spirit I think it’s better to actually contribute(
   even by reporting bugs, telling what you are missing etc), rather than belittling
   the ones that do.

 * I’m sorry, you’re right. I was the guy telling everyone one about how a new and
   wonderful editor is on the horizon back when Gutenberg was in development. I
   still have hope that it will improve. If you have access to the developers, maybe
   tell them that most users do not understand the difference between when a block
   has focus and when it doesn’t. Again, I’m sorry for my unkind words, I’m just
   frustrated and of course not alone in my frustration. But also worried for WordPress
   in general.

 * Hi [@oakhillman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/oakhillman/),
 * The block editor is a complex project still in very early stages. Thank you for
   using the editor and having hope it will improve. WordPress 5.3 brings many block
   editor improvements and features. I hope your experience improves with the new
   version.
 * > Please rescue it with some developers that know how to create a UI.
 * Could you elaborate on why you think the current UI is bad? What challenges are
   you facing?
 * Thank you in advance for the insights you may provide!

 * Jorge,
 * Thanks for taking the time to reach out. I think one of the biggest issues I
   see that impacts a lot of how the block editor works is that users don’t understand
   the concept of a block having focus or not having focus. And it has always bothered
   me that when a block does have focus and the block editing buttons appear, that
   they overlap the bottom of the block above. That causes confusion because it’s
   just not clean. And I suggest that the little plus icon at the top of each block
   that only appears when you hover over that little area where it resides, be always
   visible.
 * I know that one of the goals is probably to keep the interface as minimalistic
   as possible, and I get that, but I suspect that there are a ton of users, maybe
   even most users, that would rather have all the buttons and controls and everything
   right out there to be seen so we don’t have to search around for everything.
   Maybe there needs to be two modes of editing, one for minimalist and one for
   folks like me and my many customers using WordPress.
 * Hope that helps.

 * Hi [@oakhillman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/oakhillman/),
 * Thank you for detailing the issue you see with the editor. I will pass this feedback
   to the design team.
 * Some improvements were made in this area, and others are in progress. If you
   could, please test the editor from time to time, and you may find this problem
   has been reduced.
 * Thank you for your tests!

 * I passed on this feedback. As an additional suggestion, I think the “Top Toolbar
   mode” that can be enabled in “Options” Inside the ellipsis (three points) menu
   at the top right of the screen, may be a partial solution to the issue described.

 * Just looked at the “Top Toolbar” option and I think that could be helpful. I’ll
   definitely give it a try as I’m editing. Thanks!
