  • I see you are hosting with FastHosts, it might be worth checking with them to see if your account is hitting any sending limits.

Whilst you are using Office365, FastHosts themselves use a white-labelled version of Office365 to handle their mail on some accounts (not 100% certain on that but that’s how it was a while back).

They have filtering on certain ports (i.e. 587) that restricts the amount of mail sent.

    This is from their guide:

    Email sending limits

Our mail platform is designed for business and personal use, not as a mass-mailing service. We limit the number of email’s that can be sent from a mailbox within set time periods. The following limits are in place on all mailbox types.

    50 mails in one instance
    50 mails in a 10 minute period
    1000 mails in a 24 hour period

If you have sent many email’s within a short amount of time please wait before sending additional mails.

It may be that you have a busy site causing multiple emails and are hitting a limit.

The above does depend on what type of account you have with FastHosts, and what rate limiting they have applied.

Post SMTP will attempt to send email and if there is a ‘random’ network connection issue, that tends to point to a problem outside of Post SMTP. It would be worth speaking to your host first to verify if your set-up would be affected by any rate limiting.

Have a check of your Post SMTP logs to try and calculate how many emails your system is sending in total. (i.e. all mails from other plugins, wordfence, wp core updates or plugin updates, forms, and so on – they soon add up on a busy web site).
