 * I created a new network last night. One of the instructions says to “You can
   now head over to Tools » Network Setup page to configure your multisite network.”
 * The site I am using as a guide says page that looks like this, [http://prntscr.com/mo5yh0](http://prntscr.com/mo5yh0)
 * However on my setup the page looks like this, [http://prntscr.com/mo6167](http://prntscr.com/mo6167)
 * Did I screw up the install (Would not surprise me- lol)
 * Thanks in advance for the help
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fnetwork-setup-3%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * I should have added that I want to use subdomains.
 * Based upon what I read,I want to use [https://subdomain.maindomain.com](https://subdomain.maindomain.com)
 * will be located in a folder called subdomain under the main installation..
 * Hope this is clear 😉

 * Don’t let the subdirectory / subdomain jargon confuse you too much. That all
   pretty much went out the window with domain mapping except subdomains is a good
   way to go if you plan on having others use your multisite as a host. Makes it
   almost a no brainer to let users create their own accounts.
 * I think the documentation you’re looking at is pretty dated… what you see in
   that network setup pane is what you need to do to finish the setup now.
 * The one thing I would recommend is to do a root install or else follow these
   instructions to make your WordPress run as if it was a root install… you need
   to do this before finishing up the network setup.
 * [https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory](https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory).
 * Here’s some better instructions on the Network Setup itself [https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network](https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network).
 * Before you make the final decision to go with a Network (multisite install) this
   might be worth reading. [https://codex.wordpress.org/Before_You_Create_A_Network](https://codex.wordpress.org/Before_You_Create_A_Network).
 * This document might clarify some things also
    [https://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration](https://codex.wordpress.org/Multisite_Network_Administration).
 * And don’t forget to create backups. I use upDraftPlus but it’s a premium plugin
   for Multisite. I think there’s a few that work well for the Network itself and
   the individual sites.
 * Hope this helps.

    Wow – thank
   you
 * The reason I picked a network is because I host my high school reunions site.
   Until 2 years ago it was just one site, my class year. In the past 10 months
   i added 2 more class years, now I had to manage 3 separate WP installations.
   Using the network WP install, now I can log into the main WP account and access
   all of them –
 * Which is Awesome By the way.
 * Again – Thank you for taking the time to put that together…

 * Okay one more question, hopefully, this is the right place…
 * So if I go to classof79.waynefusco.com I get to my site.
 * However when logged into my Network Admin site; I select sites; then the classof79
   site I get a 404 error.
 * Here is my dashboard -> [http://prntscr.com/mofpbx](http://prntscr.com/mofpbx)
 * The site address in wp network admin is [http://classof79.waynefusco.com/w3/](http://classof79.waynefusco.com/w3/)
 * I am not sure what is going on. My root site is at [http://www.waynefusco.com/w3](http://www.waynefusco.com/w3)
 * Again – thanks for the help…
