Neve Error when opening edit page

Dear Neve team, thank you for all your hard work. The theme is really great.

WordPress-Version 6.7.2, problem also exists with 4.8
Aktives Theme: Neve (Version 4.0.1)
Aktuelles Plugin: (Version )
PHP-Version 8.1.32

Recently I get an error when trying to edit a page in the backend. When I click on the edit button for a page, the WordPress error message “a critical error has occurred” appears. This is independent of the page, the error occurs when editing any page. When switching to a wordpress default theme everthing seems to work just fine.

Update: This problem seems to come from using the Neve theme and the Yoast SEO plugin at the same time. If I deactivate one of the two, editing the page works without any errors.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing this, however, so far, we are not able to replicate the issue.

Can you please let me know if this happens when just Neve and Yoast are activated? No other plugins activated?

Hi,

thank you so much for your help.

I checked that again and while first testing I deactived plugin after plugin, beginning from the top. Now I started from the bottom and it is as follows:
- neve activated and Yoast Seo actived, no other plugins: everthing ist ok.
- neve actived, Yoast Seo and WPForms Lite: error
- only neve and WPForms Lite: everything is ok.
- Theme Twenty Twenty Five, WPForms lite and Yoast Seo: everything ist ok.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing all these details. I’ve tried replicating this in the same conditions but I wasn’t able to do this.

One possible solution I can think of is maybe disabling WP_DEBUG on your site https://docs.themeisle.com/article/819-how-to-turn-on-off-debugging-in-wordpress, as keeping that enabled on a production is not a good idea, in general.

thanks again for your kind reply and help. WP_DEBUG is actually only enabled for debugging purposes, normally it is not active.

yes, it is also happening with WP_DEBUG disabled (just to be sure: we are talking about the setting in wp_config? There is no other debug setting beside that one in the config file?)

Yes, that is the WP_DEBUG I’m mentioning. In this case, we’ll have to investigate this further, to see if we can replicate it.

If there will be any changes, we’ll let you know. You can also keep an eye on the product changelog for any updates.
