 * Hello group,
 * Never had this problem before, because you’re supposed to be able to log in from
   any device. Right? Just type in domain, then add /wp-admin, right?
 * Well, I bought a new Windows 10 desktop PC, and I can’t even get the login box
   to show when I do all that. Instead, a page sharing my theme loads which says:“
   OOPS! THAT PAGE CAN’T BE FOUND. It looks like nothing was found at this location.
   Maybe try a search?” Then there’s a search box right underneath that.
 * Went to my old machine and everything is fine. At first I thought maybe a new
   level of security? Like when when your bank doesn’t recognize the new device
   or IP address you’re attempting to sign in on?
 * Immediately ruled that out because we’d have been notified. Not to mention the
   OOPS page offered no email or text verification link, etc.
 * Incidentally, these two devices (a Windows 7 machine and a Windows 10 machine)
   share peripherals, mouse, keyboard, monitor through an KVM switch. But that shouldn’t
   matter, right?
 * So, what gives? Any input gratefully received.
 * Dave

 * Hi Dave,
 * I’m not sure if this helps, but these couple of lines from [https://www.carnaghan.com/fix-404-not-found-wp-admin-wp-login-php/](https://www.carnaghan.com/fix-404-not-found-wp-admin-wp-login-php/)
   may help.
 * This page’s explanation was probably the closest I could get to the situation
   you’re describing.
 * The relevant information:
 * > Solution 3: The server configuration file may have a code which redirects
   > non-trusted users (IP Addresses) on 404 page. This problem may occur on VPS
   > servers. Here is an example which explains the same:
   > The webmaster has added a line of code to redirect all IPs other than his to
   > a 404 error page.
   > If your IP has been changed, you will not be able to access the login or admin
   > pages of your site.
 * Hopefully that helps.

 * It’s not just you. `yoursite.com/wp-admin` returns a 404 for me as well, and /
   wp-login.php has a redirect loop that won’t resolve.
 * Are you using a security plugin of any type that changes your login URL?

 * Login on the one machine that can login and switch the KVM really quick just
   as soon as you press enter to login. That should do it I think… <GRIN> Really
   quick!
 * But seriously, If you have the chrome browser on both machines you might try
   using cast from the logged in browser to send a dashboard page to the other machines
   chrome browser. I’d be trying that just to see what happens… and no the chrome
   cast won’t push ‘logged in status’ to the other machine. It should ask you to
   login though.
 * And you should be able to ‘cast’ the login page to the other machine but I know
   that probably won’t work as this Windows 10 box won’t bring up the login modal
   either.
 * I also recommend trying to login again from the Windows 7 machine just to reaffirm
   the login still works. I’m seeing ‘too many redirects’ on my Windows 10 box so
   I’m wondering if the addresses are both set for HTTP instead of HTTPS. I suspect
   the WordPress address is set to HTTPS and that is confusing the login. Why it
   still works on the Windows 7 machine I have no idea.
 * It might also be the htaccess file being corrupted or a broken core upgrade.
 * Let us know what you see next.

 * If you’re talking about a WordPress plug-in, no. But this new machine has been
   full of surprises, so I suppose it’s possible it’s been throwing curves at my
   admin area access.
 * Also not familiar with the McAfee anti-virus/web protection program which came
   on the machine w/1 year introductory membership.
 * Transitions shouldn’t be this hard! I seem to kill 3-4 weekends trying to power
   through issues every time I get a new device. CHEESE N’ CRACKERS!!!

 * [@jnashhawkins](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jnashhawkins/) Are you speaking
   of Chromecast? If so, I don’t have the device. Assume some sort of cast capability
   from one browser to another doesn’t come built-in? So I’d need to order the device
   and deal with the issue until it gets here, right? Just trying to clarify. Thanks
   for your help.
