Is there a way to reorder the main list of galleries.

Image TAG shortcodes display images on my page by the lowest gallery ID first.

If the first gallery I created was called ‘Zulu’ and the second gallery was called ‘Frodo’:

    ID 1: Zulu
    ID 2: Frodo

    Then:

    [nggtags gallery=Frodo,Zulu]

The images appear on the page with Zulus images before Frodos images because the Zulu gallery was created first and has a lower Gallery ID. However I want the order of the images to appear by gallery name so Frodos images will appear first and then Zulus or some other custom arrangement.

I am aware albums can be used to order galleries however I do not want to display albums or galleries and I do not want to display all of the images within a gallery either, just the images with select tags and that may be across multiple galleries.

    For example I may use:

    [nggtags gallery=Rabbitte]

Rabbitte is an artist who may have drawn both Frodo and Zulu images

If I add a ‘Rabbitte’ TAG to certain Frodo and Zulu images, Zulus images still appear before Frodos images because that gallery was made first :/

    Thanks Dave D

@team666 – NextGEN Legacy shortcode structures (as the examples you are showing) do not honor any particular sort order you may use.

I would actually suggest using the ATP to insert the gallery then use its Sort/Exclude panel to specifically place images in the order you want (as needed).

    Thanks!

    Cais,

I have 1500 images of 30+ Characters by 100+ Artists that need to be displayed alphabetically by Character on one page and by Artist on another.

I cant experiment with ATP right now as there is some plugin conflict causing the ATP Display Gallery page to be blank. I will definitely give this a go soon tho. Perhaps I can insert 30 Character ATP instances on one page and 100 Artist ATP instances on another each with different sort/exclude settings. But this may be too difficult. I did experiment with the back end Gallery settings where I pointed 2 Galleries at the same ftp image folder and used the exclude settings but this method lost the image description text for the second gallery and there was no select all ‘exclude’ option I would have to press ‘exclude’ on 1400 images to include just a few for every Character and Artist.

Tags seemed to be the best method to control what images I want displayed and I have more categories that just Character and Artist there is also Masterpiece II and Masterpiece II.

I am using the justified image grid extension for nextgen which adds some tag functionality such as intersecting tags and the JIG tag shortcodes display the images by the order they are sorted within each nextgen gallery, with the lowest gallery ID images being first.

If only i could reorder or change the ID of the galleries :/ or find some other solution.

If you have any further advice that would be great

    Thanks, Dave D

@team666 – It sounds like you have the right approach based on what one might expect but I do not believe the NextGEN Legacy nggtags shortcode ever honored the order of the galleries as they were noted in the parameters.

As far as I can tell, the gallery ID parameters for any shortcode do not current honor the order they are used as a display order but this would make for a great Feature Request if you would like to share you thoughts and ideas on it here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

As far as other suggestions, I’m afraid not much more is coming to mind at the moment but If I think of something I will make another reply.

    @team666 – Thanks!

We really appreciate those requests that help us to understand those use-cases we may not have considered and see if we can implement those that would best benefit our user-base in general. Expanding on the “tags” functionality has been gaining more and more interest lately.
