NextGen Gone from Dashboard Menu

    NextGen Gallery is still activated, and working on the site. But it’s gone from my dashboard menu, which means I can no longer access settings.

    I updated to the newest version of NextGen Gallery earlier today. Then I installed an external lightbox plugin, Simple Lightbox, since my galleries’ lightboxes weren’t working. One I’d done that, the lightbox was working again on the NextGen galleries I have on the site. But I wanted to test whether the NextGen Gallery lightbox setting should be set to “None” or “Fancybox,” which was where I had it. (I was thinking that perhaps Simple Lightbox would take the place of NextGen Gallery’s lightbox settings.) I toggled that setting, and saved, but the lightbox stopped working. So I went back in to toggle the setting back to “Fancybox,” and got an error saying something like, You can’t access this page. I’m sorry, but I didn’t write down the message. When I got back into the dashboard, NextGen had disappeared from the menu and it hasn’t come back after logging out and logging back in.

    Hey @lisath, let’s try testing to see if there is some sort of conflict going on. Try temporarily deactivating all plugins and reactivate NextGEN Gallery only. Be sure to purge all site cache if you have a caching plugin installed, before deactivating the plugins. Than clear all browser cache. Does that help? If so, reactivate each of the other plugins one at a time to find the culprit. Keep me posted. 🙂

    Using the free version, 2.2.33, Running php 5.6.x
    Same problem as above Admin Gallery menu completely gone
    Now although Galleries work on front end, no admin “Gallery” menu at all and no option in the editor – in WYSYWYG move it shows the shortcode, same as in “Text” mode.
    (Not able to deactivate all other plugins at present)

    Although NextGEN does NOT show in Active Plugin list, it DOES show in “All” plugins. If select “opt-in” get error message “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” Then the admin Gallery menu is gone!. Finding the plugin, deactivate/activate restores the admin menu and the “Add Gallery” button in the Editor
    It looks like either accessing/changing the Gallery/Other options page is killing it (once menu gone I DID find the plugin and click the “opt-in” option as noted above.)
