 * It may be a good plugin, but IT’S NOT OPEN SOURCE, if it’s paid it’s not open
   source as you state on your website (pricing page)… if you wanna sell it, fine,
   it is your work, but do not mislead people and use ‘special terms’ just to make
   it look cool…
 * Definition of Open Source: denoting software for which the original source code
   is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified.
 * Updated, I changed my review, perhaps not the place to discuss it and Jan has
   a point.

 * Why do you say it’s not open sourced? Where does the author claim otherwise?
 * [https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/namaste-lms/#trunk](https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/namaste-lms/#trunk)
 * Authors are permitted to upsell and can even sell a version of the plugin and
   still be 100% open source. Open source does not mean that authors cannot sell
   their code or services.
 * If the author is claiming somewhere that you cannot modify the code then please
   explain where you see that. Is that it in the code?

 * I understand it, you can make profit from proving services, and even selling
   it under some circumstances.
 * But under their ‘Terms’ in the same website they state:
    No materials published
   by Calendarscripts on this web site, in whole or in part, may be copied, reproduced,
   modified, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any form
   or by any means without prior written permission from Kiboko Labs Ltd.
 * They have to decide, are they open source or not? that’s what I mean by misleading.
   telling it’s open source and putting in the “small lines” it’s not doesnt help.

 * _*Looks*_
 * I think you’re mistaken. The pricing page does not say anything about restricting
   the code.
 * This page is about pricing.
 * [http://namaste-lms.org/pro.php?tab=pricing](http://namaste-lms.org/pro.php?tab=pricing)
 * This is the page about terms of use for the _website_.
 * [http://namaste-lms.org/terms.php](http://namaste-lms.org/terms.php)
 * There are 10 items there and yeah, IANAL but it’s all about the website. Yes,
   I preserved a copy of the page for reference. Website terms of use are pretty
   standard and awfully boring. I don’t see anything there that can be used to justify
   your review. There is no GPL requirement that has to apply to anyone’s website
   content.
 * You can leave a 1 star review if you like but your complaint is not correct.
   Sometimes authors _do_ put terms on their code that is not GPL compatible and
   those get corrected when found. That does not seem to be the case here.

 * I see your point, perhaps you are right, and maybe this shouldn’t be place to
   discuss this with them, I changed my review stars, not sure if its updated, still
   not happy with the confusion and use of the open source term around, but it shouldnt
   reflect the quality of the product.

 * The terms on the website are about the website content – text, images, etc. Even
   if you are misled to think that this is about the software sold on it, the terms
   are clear: “Unless otherwise specified”. The GPL license of the plugin specifies
   otherwise.
 * The plugins are ALL open source GPL 2 licensed, which is a must for all WordPress
   plugins. If you see WP plugins not open source licensed, their authors are breaking
   the law.
 * The core Namaste! LMS plugin is fully functional as is, and free. The addons
   are optional, non-free but with open source license.
    Hope this clarifies your
   doubts.
 * Thanks, Jan, for your contribution to the thread!
