# Note about Google changes

 * Just an FYI for anyone using Universal Analytics. As explained [here](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/):
 * > Universal Analytics (UA) will be deprecated on July 1, 2023, which means it
   > will stop processing data.
 * Google advises to [migrate to Google Analytics 4](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/10759417)(
   GA4) before the stop date.
 * **Does this plugin still support Universal Analytics?**
 * Yes, absolutely.
 * The only change at this point, is that Universal Analytics tracking method is
   labeled as “deprecated” in the plugin settings. There are no plans to remove 
   support for the Universal Analytics tracking method until sometime _after_ the
   official stop date, July 1st 2023. At that time, Google will stop processing 
   data for Universal Analytics.
 * If you want to change over to Google Analytics 4 (GA4), there are simple steps
   available on the [plugin homepage](https://wordpress.org/plugins/ga-google-analytics/#description:~:text=to%20%E2%80%9CGoogle%20Tag%E2%80%9D.-,ENABLE%20GOOGLE%20ANALYTICS%204,-Follow%20this%20guide),
   a few paragraphs down, under the section, “Enable Google Analytics 4”.
