Hi @-mark-
We do output the og:image tag for a post or page based on the following hierarchy:
-A user-defined image “Facebook image” in the Social tab of the Yoast metabox.
-A user-defined “Featured image” for the page (only for posts).
-A prominent image from the page’s content.
-The “Social default image” from the template in Search Appearance.
-The site’s fallback/default social image (set at SEO > Social > Facebook > Default image).
Otherwise, you can look into our metadata API if you would like to modify the og:image output.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, I’d have to upload an image for every video. It would be very helpful if I just could add an URL of an image.

At the moment, there’s no option to add an image URL for the preview.
But we don’t want to leave you empty-handed either, that’s why we’ve created our developer portal at developer.yoast.com. This has proven to be useful to many developers in the past, and hopefully will serve you well too.
