• Hello all-
Hope someone can help me with this-
I’m Trying to restore a blog: (vancouverecotours.com) to a subfolder on Bluehost called “Vancouverecotours”

Previously it was located at the public_html folder of my folder on Bluehost.

    I downloaded a local backup.

I have installed WP3.04 sucessfully at the root of my server.
I can create subdomain blog installs as well as new blog network installs.

I have been able to create a new network called VancouverEcotours
I have been able to import the old export file– unfortunately only text appears I n the pages and posts. No formatting- no pics or videos, no links.
Is there any way to make it easier to recreate this blog?

    Thanks: )

    Eric

  • Moved to troubleshooting. This isn’t a multisite issue. (multisite is a feature)

    Thanks-
    I’m new to this.
    Any ideas?

When you imported the export file did you check that box that says download attachments etc (can’t remember the exact wording of the tick box). This would grab the images and attachments from the old site and then upload them to the new one.

    I believe that I did-
    It’s possible that I didn’t
    Any way to check?

It could also be the Site/WordPress URL which is preventing it from finding the css. If you move your domain from domain.com to domain.com/somefolder, for example, all the links, paths to images, etc., need to be updated to use that new URL as well.

The first place to start is at your database. If you can log into your dashboard, you can edit these URLs in the Settings. Otherwise you can edit them via PHPMyAdmin: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

If that fixes the appearance of the sites, but not the images, you may need a search and replace plugin so you can locate all paths with the old URL and replace it with the new URL.
