 * Hi,
 * I love the Fashionistas theme but I’m looking to optimize the Google Fonts. When
   I run a Google PageSpeed test, the score is lowered due to the fonts not being“
   Optimized for CSS Delivery”. Google has published this article:
 * [https://fonts.googleblog.com/2010/09/optimizing-use-of-google-font-api.html](https://fonts.googleblog.com/2010/09/optimizing-use-of-google-font-api.html)
 * My understanding is the problem is due to the way the theme requests the fonts.
   The example in the article is from a theme that requests from the header.php
   file. I believe Fashionistas requests from the functions.php.
 * Based on Google’s recommendations, could you help me optimize the Google Fonts
   so my site runs faster and gets a higher score on PageSpeed?

 * Thanks [@romanbon](https://wordpress.org/support/users/romanbon/)!
 * How do I go about properly de-enqueuing the fonts in the functions.php file so
   I can request them in the header?
 * I’ve tried simply removing the scripts but the fonts won’t load with the new
   tag in the header. Stuck.

 * Hello [@thestudshooter](https://wordpress.org/support/users/thestudshooter/),
 * I think that this article might help you to better understand `functions.php`:
