# Optimizely plugin 3.7.1 hangs while creating experiment

 * I’m running WordPress 4.3.1 with the Jupiter theme (Version: 4.1.1) and the Optimizely
   plugin (Version 3.7.1). Everything appears to be configured properly with the
   plugin. I can connect to Optimizely and select a project from the configuration
   tab. However, when I click the “Create Experiment” button on any Edit Post page,
   it just hangs with “Creating…” and never creates the experiment. (I have entered
   headline variations before clicking the button, of course.)
 * Is anyone having a similar problem?

 * I have the exact same problem on a client’s website.

 * I haven’t figured out a fix yet. I’m trying to get help from Optimizely, but
   no success yet. If anyone out there has a suggestion, please let me know. Thanks!

 * Hi [@evsnm](https://wordpress.org/support/users/evsnm/) Is there any output in
   the console of the browser or any error message in the PHP log?

 * Hi [@bradtaylorsf](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bradtaylorsf/). I checked
   the browser console. Good idea. I found that the request sent when I pushed the“
   Create Experiment” button was returning a 403 response. That would explain the
   behavior. Here’s the response info:
 *     ```
       status:403
       message:"Your account plan does not allow conditional activation of experiments."
       ```
 * I switched to Immediate Activation Mode and now I’m able to create an experiment.
   Thank you for the tip!
 * Now I’m having problems getting the Variation Code to work. But that’s another
   story.
 * Marking this as resolved.
 * I had the same issues. In fact, even more severe: When I tried creating a headline
   experiment on a live website with significant traffic it broke everything leading
   to 504 Gateway Time-Outs…
 * What is Immediate Activation Mode and how can I use it?
 * Update:
    My developer and host believe it was a server issue and it is just a
   coincidence the problems occured after trying to create a headline experiment.
   The plugin therefore most likely has no major issues.
 * I also found the Immediate Activation Mode. I had just assumed the plugin is
   as much plug-and-play as Optimizely itself; will read documentation from now
   on. 🙂
 * [@buynai](https://wordpress.org/support/users/buynai/) Good to hear it worked
   out for you.
 * For others who might read this post, the Activation Mode can be set at the bottom
   of the configuration tab on the Optimizely settings page. The help page is [here](https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/200040225).
