 * I’ve just installed and started to learn about your Forminator plugin.. So it
   seems really good.. However, on the first simple form I’ve built (designed for
   users to submit a calendar entry) a field I’ve set as option (end time in the
   above link) acts like a required field. Any ideas why this is?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Foptional-field-issue%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hello there [@raeast](https://wordpress.org/support/users/raeast/)
 * I just tested that by sending a testing submission, without touching the End
   Time and it seems that it worked well.
    Were you able to surpass this? Please
   advise! 🙂
 * Take care,
    Dimitris

 * Hi.. Just noticed you had checked this.. I was ‘playing’ around with the form
   earlier today to see if I could fix it but it created another inconsistency..
   I’ve just deleted then re-entered the two time fields into the form and set start
   time as required input (you can see the red *). If you now press the send button
   without entering any data you can see that all the required fields EXCEPT Start
   time are highlighted as required. This is the reverse of the original problem
   which was the end time was set as optional but input was required?
    Strange problem..
   Any ideas? Thanks!

 * Hey there [@raeast](https://wordpress.org/support/users/raeast/) thank you for
   following up.
 * I was wondering if you can share the settings you have on that field? From what
   I can tell the field is being pre-populated, or it has a default time added which
   basically means that the field already is “filled” that’s why you are not getting
   the required message.
 * If you don’t have this field with a default, or it’s pre-populated then you should
   receive the required message, so what you could use instead is the placeholder.
 * Looking forward to your reply.
 * Regards,
 * Jorge

 * Hi Thanks again for your swift response.. I’ve copied/pasted from the Start Time
   Field Settings below. **Highlighted** are the only options I’ve set…I’ve not
   pre-populated the field (I don’t really understand how that’s set anyway)
